Urban Nature Walk (Oct 26)

STARTING POINT IS ON THE STEPS OF THE MARITIME CENTRE, WHERE SPRING GARDEN RD MEETS BARRINGTON ST

Urban Nature Walk

Though we will start this walk on the concrete steps of the Maritime Centre, nature will reveal itself in the city as we walk along, like the birds and sea life of the Waterfront. You will learn more from the walk experts, the Sierra Club and Dr. Bill Freedman of Dalhousie Biology about opportunities for habitat and interesting landscapes along the way.

Gallery Hop Walk

Bright Lights of Barrington

Barrington Street Walk

Our main street. Too slow, or not fast enough, change has always been part of our Barrington. To design or not to design… now that is the question. Old buildings tell of old legends, and new developments are often surrounded by controversy. Take a look and see what you think. Tall towers to graveyards, meet at Barrington & Duke and follow Barrington St. to the Old Burying Ground.

Cheap Thrills & Citadels

Citadel Hill Walk

Look down, way down… then around some buildings… from atop what used to be Halifax’s second highest point! From here you can see ships sail there, buildings built over there, and a skating oval where once cows grazed just a little to the left. Meet at the harbour front clock (outside the ferry terminal), and trek up the citadel with Walk Halifax like a good soldier in her majesty’s service, past Province House, through Parade Square, up and around the clock tower to the top… ooh the huffing and puffing would not be worth it, save the view. (This walk is fog or shine)

Harbour Front Walk

Ships Sail Here. And have for centuries. The focal point of Halifax’s hustle and bustle since the days of sail, through the days of war and immigration, to the days of tourism, the harbour front is full of stories. Why be left sitting in a Halifax office, when you could be walking along a Halifax pier? Meet at the harbour clock tower (outside the ferry terminal) and follow along the board walk along the waterfront toward the farmer’s market.
